Shihabuzzaman Kamal

Mr Kamal, a journalist was born in 1965, in Hobiganj, Sylhet. He arrived in Britain in 1984 and took on a job at a leather factory in Myrdle Street. Being the son of a Poet, he grew up in an environment of poetry and Islamic Songs. In 1985/86 he set up a Bengali magazine for young people called Kishore Bibhag (A Segment for Teenagers). He also became involved with various   East London based literary projects including Renaissance Literary Society who published six of his books including two anthologies of poetry. Mr Kamal has also published Bengali literacy books for children with an aim to help British Bengali parents preserve the Bengali language. Mr Kamal is the current editor of Tritio Bangla Newspaper and Dhaka Post and the bureau chief of the online newspaper Londonbdnews24hour.com
