Sajeda Haque, a retired teacher and poet was born in Calcutta and arrived in Britain in 1970 with her husband and three children. She has published several books of poetry and children’s rhymes. Mrs Haque was inspired to write children’s rhyme while teaching Bangladeshi children in Tower Hamlets. She wanted to create resources on Bengali language to help children of Bangladeshi heritage to improve their mother tongue. Mrs Haque began her career as a teacher in Tower Hamlets in 1984 and had her first anthology published in 2000.
