Nobab Uddin, editor of Janomot Newspaper and a quantity surveyor was born in Sylhet and came to Britain in 1978. He has produced several plays and is currently completing a book on the history of Bangladeshis in Britain. He has published several poems in his formative years in London some of which were published in Janomot, however most of his poems have not survived. He joined Janomot in 1990 and has continued to create a platform for the Bangladeshi writers in the newspaper. In 2004, his play ‘Cautionary Tale’ based on the story of Saira Rahman – a Bangladeshi woman who married the notorious English prisoner Charles Bronson, took to stage in London and was featured in the Guardian and The Times.
