Kim McGee

Kim McGee, an original member of the Basement Writers and former pupil of Sir John Cass, was born in Whitechapel hospital. Trained as a nursery nurse, Ms McGee is currently working in a primary school managing speech and language sessions with children. She also performs as a storyteller and puppeteer. Despite developing the talent for writing poetry from a very young age, Ms McGee was very apprehensive about joining the Basement writers. On the first day at the meeting, she pleaded with her mother, Gladys McGee to be by her side. They both ended up joining the group. Ms McGee’s poetry has been widely published by the Basement Writers and various other publications from London.
