Anwara Ahmed Anu

Born in Khulna in 1949, Mrs Anwara Ahmed, a community worker, arrived in Britain in 1969. She worked in Tower Hamlets in Housing Association in the early 80s and continued working with the Bangladeshi community across East London and Camden until her recent retirement. She grew up listening to poetry by Sufia Kamal and Satyendrath Dutta and like many from her generation, started writing poetry during her childhood. She has penned many poems while living in London unfortunately none has survived.
